One of the few upsides to a week with sick kids is the excuse to watch all the best animated movies. Particularly those earlier ones made by Pixar. The amount of feeling in their storytelling is so inspiring and working at the animation studio was once a dream of mine. (Anyone else bawl their eyes out when Andy went off to college?)
What are some of your favorites?
Happy V-day lovers!
.
Our kids have the flu, so I’ve been swimming in germs all day praying I’m somehow immune.
It’s definitely not the way I’d plan to spend valentine’s day, but there were tons of snuggles with little humans that I love, so I’m going to count that as a win.
I hope your day was just as cozy and at least a little less snotty. 🧡
If you run through a field hand in hand with your love prior to your ceremony...I can’t promise your gown won’t get a bit dirty. What I can promise is that you will look like a queen when it’s time to walk down that aisle no matter what. (Even if that gorgeous dress needs a little river wash by the maid of honor and yours truly.)
As we flew over the mountain tops, Brad and Brittani recounted stories of their experiences on many of them. They are adventurers of the truest kind, but also the most warm and humble humans you could meet. Landing here, in another world, was an absolutely fitting start to their wedding day.
.
(Yes, the ice was really THAT blue, and yes, I am definitely still freaking out about how incredible this place is.)
“Understand me...I do not have time for things that have no soul.” — Charles Bukowski
.
What are a few of those things that feed your soul?
Some of mine are quiet time alone (introvert over here! 👋), painting, excellent pasta, and traveling + exploring new places with my love @austinmarkadams.
.
What about you?
Just spent a long weekend in Homer with a couple other boss babes/friends relaxing, reflecting on 2018, and game plan creating for the coming year.
To say I am stoked for the coming wedding season is an understatement!
.
Rest has never been something I am good at taking the time for, (hot tubs help though!) but that “reset + refocus” was so needed for all of us, and we came out of it entirely ready to take on the new year.
(Yes, I’m aware it’s already February, but who’s counting?)
.
Thanks for the fun @thatfeelingco + @thatlaurengurl
Last fall, I returned from the Wrangells with just under 8,000 images. (WAY too many, I know, but it was all so beautiful and I just. Couldn’t. Stop.)
.
The trip was mainly about making promotional material for @ultimathulelodge, but honestly ended up feeling more like a creative retreat, whirlwind though it was.
The people, the wilderness, the food...it truly is the best of Alaska.
I aspire to be
an old man
with an old wife
laughing at old jokes
from a wild youth.

Sometimes I spend way too much time deciding on images and the words to go with them, so today I asked Madi (my 1.5 yr petite chérie) which photo I should post.
She immediately chose this one, which actually makes perfect sense because that girl already has a shoe obsession like no other toddler I’ve ever seen. ⠀⠀⠀

Jodi & Eric | Engagement | Anchorage, Alaska

July 06, 2016 in Engaged

A few years ago, I had the privilege of photographing Jodi as she prepared to graduate high school. Now she is knee deep in college and about to be married. These two will tie the knot in less than a month, so in anticipation of that glorious day I wanted to share some images from their engagement session along the Turnagain Arm.
It was cold and windy out, but when has that ever stopped an Alaskan woman from throwing on a summer dress and heels? Eric may be from the Sunshine State, but rose to the occasion splendidly and did his bride-to-be proud. I personally think he would make an excellent Alaskan.

There are some things that just go together. PB&J, bacon and eggs, rum and coke, Ross and Rachel. These two are like that. Their love is natural, tangible, and unmistakable.

Their engagement session felt like that too.
